There has been excitement about using batteries in electric vehicles for energy storage for homes for years, but the industry has been slow to offer viable solutions for consumers. Once again, the PowerBloc is changing the game. YouSolar just sold its first vehicle-to-home integration with a PowerBloc.

We proudly announce that YouSolar has closed the sale of another PowerBloc in Big Sur, CA, for $130,000. The owner of the home walks the talk of sustainability.  The home is off-grid. It sits on a hundred acres of wild canyons and grasslands. The home has 2,500 square feet and was built to the highest energy efficiency standards. The PowerBloc will not only power the home but also charge electric vehicles, electric all-terrain vehicles, and e-bikes.

The New Year has started, and YouSolar is back from the holidays selling the PowerBloc® solar-battery nanogrid. We are supercharged for 2023. Our customers love the new and improved PowerBloc we will deliver this year. It has more cost-effective storage, is more powerful, and is more efficient.

For thousands of years, ever since we plowed the valleys of the Nile or Ganges, man has reshaped Earth. Even though man’s success was overwhelming, it was still won in one individual’s battle at a time on the frontier, protecting the herd from wild predators or fields from the river with a dam. The world seemed enormous, and building our civilization was a struggle. But in the last century, man’s triumph over nature has been absolute.

The holidays are here. A time when the world collectively slows down. When people drive around with a wreath tied to the front of their car. It is the time for candles and eggnog.

Clean Tech is, sadly, still a man’s world, which is why we love having Lyla Ramos as part of our team. Lyla builds our control boards, which include many very small parts. This plays to Lyla’s passions: she has always loved miniatures and getting close to things most of us walk over: fungi and mosses, which she also photographs.

Few birds are as beautiful as the turkey, a species only found in North America. On Thanksgiving, it is a symbol of all plants and animals that we rely on to nourish ourselves. The abundance of the harvest allows us to have time and energy to create all the ideas and things that make Earth an extraordinary place to live: Beethoven's symphonies, Einstein's equations, War and Peace, and, of course, the smartphone.

Yes, generators are on their way out. Solar-battery systems are more reliable and produce cheaper electricity than generators. Solar-battery systems are also clean and silent.  But if you are off-grid and your roof is covered with snow or run a clinic or other critical facility, it is still very reasonable to include a generator as an additional backup energy source to charge the batteries.
