In our recent update, “The Duck Becomes a Swan,” we noted, "The problem with solar is that there can be too much of the good stuff when no one needs it and too little or none when power is in high demand.” Utilities in California have pushed back on the state's solar incentives. Since April of 2023, utilities only have to pay for solar fed into the grid what it is worth in the wholesale power markets. When solar arrays are cranking at noon, that is next to nothing.

During a speech on 23 September 1997, shortly after returning to Apple, Steve Jobs explained and introduced the “Think Different” marketing campaign that included the iconic “Here’s to the Crazy Ones” video ad. The rest is history and a three-trillion-dollar success.

Power outages can be very disruptive. They can be insidious during the daytime. They are clearly visible at night because the lights go out. YouSolar is located in Northern California, an area serviced by the electric utility Pacific Gas and Electric (“PG&E”).  PG&E has an increasingly difficult time keeping the lights on. More often, it needs to cut power to prevent its infrastructure from causing devastating wildfires.

We have confessed our love for connectors before. But one connector is special. This 2-pole power connector is used in all of our power modules and is shown below on a sample of our new 100 V battery. Many 2-pole high-power connectors are out there, but they are primarily designed for electric vehicles. 

Dunsmuir is a small historic railroad town south of Mount Shasta in California. After the completion of the Central Pacific Railroad in 1887, Dunsmuir was a vital service stop. But with the end of steam trains in the mid-1950s, Dunsmuir's significance vanished. Today it is a quaint tourist town that celebrates its railroad past.
