New Team Member | We Are Pumped

This week, Brett Nelson joined YouSolar as an Electronics Technician. Brett will work on electronic assembly and quality control. He will also run our in-house hardware and software testing and support customer installations.

Brett grew up in Illinois but then moved to California to study physics at the University of California in Santa Cruz. He later was a research associate at UC Berkeley and a Graduate Student Researcher at the Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory.

Brett comes from a family with a passion for fitness and strength and professional sports aspirations. As with many California arrivals, Brett started pumping iron. Despite his family’s pedigree, Brett kept weightlifting a hobby.

Here, at YouSolar, we can use both Brett’s brain and brawn.

While we build cutting-edge power electronics and controls, the batteries in our systems are still a heavy lift. Even though we limit the mass of PowerBloc modules to around 100 pounds to allow for hand installation, it is good to have someone in the lab who, in his competitive days, could deadlift over 700 pounds!
