Battery Acceptance Test

Nothing gets your heart racing faster than a battery acceptance test. Okay, it is a bit of a slog, but the devil is in the details, and it is critical to ensure that all battery features work as designed.

China’s dominance in the lithium iron phosphate (LiFePO4) battery market is undeniable. The absence of a ‘giga factory’ for this type of battery in the United States underscores the importance of the China in this technology.

KORE Power’s first LiFePO4 manufacturing plant in Arizona is expected to be fully operational by late 2024 or early 2024. However, KORE will be limited in its cell selection, currently leaving YouSolar no alternative to Chinese cells.

A team from YouSolar is currently in Shenzhen, China, for the acceptance test of our new 100 Volt battery before it enters UL certification and serial production.

The battery acceptance test in Shenzhen, China was a pivotal event. We rigorously tested the functionality of our new 100 V battery, a crucial step before it undergoes UL certification and enters serial production. This test marks a significant milestone in our battery development journey.

China has not taken LiFePO4 manufacturing from America. Until KORE, we had not even bothered to make a LiFePO4 cell. Without China, there would be no PowerBloc or many other solar batteries.

China’s investment in manufacturing is commendable, and the Chinese work ethic is truly inspiring. The engineers at our battery pack maker, for instance, work long hours, starting at 8 AM and leaving at 8 PM. We’re here for the acceptance test, and it’s well past 6 PM and no-one has left.

You cannot envy China’s success; you can only beat it. So, we at YouSolar also work hard and smart. Our speed and competence are apparent, and our Chinese partners recognize and admire it. It makes for a great partnership of mutual respect.

Batteries are a big part of a PowerBloc, but they are not the only part. Everything else in the PowerBloc is proudly American. We design all power electronics and controls. All code is written in the USA. Our contract manufacturer is in Monterey, CA, and our amazing metal shop is located in San Jose.

The PowerBloc is second to none in features and performance. Give China credit where credit is due, but when it comes to nanogrid design, we are pretty confined that YouSolar keeps America the world’s leader.
