PowerBloc for Quino Energy Ready for Delivery
In August, YouSolar sold a PowerBloc to the DOE-funded flow battery startup Quino Energy.
The PowerBloc integrates prototypes of Quino’s flow battery. The system uses solar energy to charge the flow battery. The PowerBloc will power Quino’s facility, demonstrating the practical use of Quino’s technology.
The magic of the PowerBloc nanogrid is that it can use any type of battery.
Quino Energy has created a water-based flow battery that stores electrical energy in organic “quinone” molecules. Quinones are ubiquitous biological pigments in various living organisms (bacteria, fungi, higher plants, and a few animals).
Quino asked if we could provide the modules with a custom color, grey, and add its logo. We know how important it is to have a good-looking system when you are a startup and need to make an impression! So, we were happy to repaint our modules and put on Quino’s logo: One startup supporting another startup!
Currently, the PowerBloc modules are undergoing final testing at YouSolar before being shipped to Quino Energy.
We are an innovator. Therefore, we cheer for every company that pushes technology forward. Quino is such a company. We need innovation like Quino’s to save our planet.
The PowerBloc allows people to power their lives independently. But the PowerBloc is more than a product. It is a platform technology that allows other energy companies to test their solutions and integrate them into our nanogrid.
The Quino sale demonstrates that the PowerBloc is a platform technology for the rapidly growing energy storage ecosystem.
