Replay: YouSolar Sells PowerBloc Modules to Quino Energy for Testing Novel Flow Battery
Our most recent PowerBloc sale is to the DOE-funded flow battery startup Quino Energy.
Yes, you read that correctly. And no, we are not selling to the competition!
YouSolar is not a battery company. Neither are we a solar company. The magic of our nanogrid technology is that it can use any type of solar panel and many types of batteries.
In residential and small commercial applications we use Lithium Iron Phosphate (LFP) batteries because LFP can scale from small to large and it is the safest and most mature high-power battery technology available today.
But YouSolar is battery agnostic and therefore future-proof.
We are excited about all the new battery technologies that are being developed by universities and companies around the world. We need innovation to save our planet.
Quino Energy is such an innovator, pioneering a novel water-based flow battery that stores electrical energy in organic quinone molecules. The company was formed in Silicon Valley to commercialize the aqueous organic flow battery technology invented at Harvard University.

Quino’s flow battery chemistry uses abundant and non-toxic materials that are sourced domestically.
Quino Energy has purchased a YouSolar PowerBloc without battery modules. This allows Quino to develop further, test and operate its flow battery. We are very excited to be an enabler for the research and development of new battery technology.
This sale establishes YouSolar’s nanogrid as a platform technology in the rapidly growing energy storage ecosystem.
